Awaji Island in Hyogo Prefecture, blessed with rich soil, is one of the leading Kawara (traditional Japanese roof tiles) producing regions in Japan. A seam ripper is an essential tool for cutting stitches and opening buttonholes. The handle is crafted from Awaji Kawara.
Among the various types of Awaji Kawara, glazed ceramic Kawara is used for this item. The glaze adds a smooth texture and subtle luster to the rustic character of the clay. Two colors are available: White and Dark Gray.
The handle features a rounded square shape. It has been carefully sized for a comfortable grip and a satisfying weight in the hand. Its shape prevents it from rolling away while you work. Each seam ripper is finished with a silk tassel accented with gold thread to complement the color of the glaze.
The seam ripper features a sharp blade and comes with a genuine leather cover engraved with the Cohana logo.

Handling Precautions
Intended Use
• This product is designed as a seam ripper. Do not use for any purpose other than its intended use.
Ceramic Handle
• Variations in the ceramic finish, including color unevenness and tiny bubbles, may occur due to climate conditions, clay, glaze, and naturally occurring minerals.
• Discontinue use if cracks or chips appear on the ceramic handle.
• The unglazed portion of the ceramic handle may scratch surrounding surfaces if rubbed or dragged forcefully.
Leather Cover & Silk Tassel
• The genuine leather cover may stretch or shrink slightly over time. Exposure to water or perspiration may cause discoloration or staining.
• The silk tassel may fade or discolor due to friction, moisture, or direct sunlight.
Handling & Safety
• The tip of the seam ripper is sharp. Handle with care.
• Wipe the blade dry if it becomes wet to help prevent rust.
• Always replace the cover after use.
• Avoid prolonged storing in direct sunlight or at high temperatures.
• Dropping or subjecting the product to strong impact may cause damage.
• Keep out of reach of infants and young children.
The ripper is sharp and does a very neat job. Handle easily rolls when in use. Easily slips. Avoided fall but now broken. I tried to glue together and hopefully it can be of some use. Would be better if handle is wood.
Excellent tools for fine embroidery work
Fun to use but a little heavy.
Can’t wait to use it
