The color of lacquered handles is duller and darker than it should be when the lacquer has been applied for only a short period of time. That's because the lacquer has a distinctive yellowish tone at first. Greens and blues are strongly influenced by this lacquer characteristic.
As time passes, environmental conditions such as ultraviolet rays, temperature, and humidity change the color of the lacquer to a brighter tone and becomes more colorful. The lacquer formula of the product shown in the image on the product page and the product sold this time is the same and manufactured in the same way, so the handles of your scissors will have the same color tone.
The time it takes for the color tone become brighter depends on the environment. We would appreciate it if you could enjoy the process of color tone change.

Cohana Nihonbashi Store celebrates its 7th anniversary in June 2024.We offer our popular scissors in limited edition colors as a special appreciation to our customers.
We have reflected many of comments we received in our customer survey, “Scissors in more colors and brighter colors!" into the five basic colors of Cohana.
The blades are created by Hasegawa Cutlery, a manufacturer of edged tools established in 1933 and located in Seki, Japan's foremost cutlery-making town. Blades are forged and hand-fitted by master craftsmen for a sharp edge and a smooth, hitch-free cutting experience. The handles are decorated with Urushi lacquer and gold makie lines, which give them noble luster and elegance. The smooth texture unique to Urushi lacquer makes these scissors special.
The small scissors have a thin and delicate edge, making them easy to use for detailed work, and are recommended for both crafts and handicrafts.

The blades are sharpened by adding a small edge by grinding the blade at two different angles, which ensures long-lasting sharpness and strength. Shaving the tip increases the accuracy of blade engagement.

Handling Precautions
- The blade tips are sharp, so please handle with care.
- Forcing the blades to cut hard or thick object will result in losing blade engagement and damage to the blades.
- Dropping or strong impact may cause damage.
- Do not store scissors in direct sunlight or in high temperatures and humidity to prevent rusting of the scissors and discoloration of the lacquer.
- Lacquer coatings and gold maki-e lines are very delicate. Do not use hard cloths or abrasives for cleaning as they scratch the surface.
- After use, wipe with the cleaner cloth provided and store in the sheath.
- The sheath is made of genuine leather and therefore may stretch or shrink a little. Also wetting with water or sweat may cause color fading or stains.
- There may be a rare case of lacquer rash depending on user's physical constitution. If you experience any abnormality, discontinue use and consult a physician.
- Keep out of reach of infants.
