Made by Hasegawa Cutlery in Seki, Gifu Prefecture, one of Japan's leading cutlery-making regions, these small scissors offer exceptionally sharp cutting performance. The handles are finished with elegant lacquer and gold maki-e, giving them a refined luster.
The vermilion version is finished with shu lacquer, a color traditionally associated with celebration and good fortune. Its vibrant appearance is balanced by a dignified elegance, while the natural lacquer subtly changes in color, deepening over time and eventually revealing a beautiful luster.
The smooth texture unique to lacquer feels comfortable in the hand, and the more you use the scissors, the more attached to them you become.
The secret behind the smooth cutting performance of these small scissors lies in the final stage, where skilled craftsmen finish each blade by hand. During the final sharpening process, Koba-biki strengthens the blades to make them more resistant to chipping, while Saki-suri refines the blade tips.
Paired with a genuine leather case and a gold-and-silver tassel, these scissors have an even more elegant and festive appearance. Caring for them with the included cleaning cloth restores the lacquer’s luster, allowing you to cherish them for years to come.
Blade Tip Adjustment (Slightly Flattened Tips)
A closer look of the tip when blades are closed.

The tips of the blades are carefully adjusted to ensure proper alignment.
Please note that the blade tips have a slightly flattened finish as a result of this adjustment.

Handling Precautions
The blade tips are sharp. Handle with care.
Do not cut hard materials, as this may damage the blades, affect blade alignment, and reduce cutting performance.
Dropping or subjecting the scissors to strong impact may cause damage.
If the scissors become wet, wipe them thoroughly to help prevent rust.
Avoid storing the scissors in direct sunlight or in hot, humid environments to help prevent rust on the blades and discoloration of the lacquer.
The lacquer and gold maki-e are very delicate. Do not use abrasive cloths or polishing compounds when cleaning, as they may damage the finish.
After use, wipe the scissors with the included cleaning cloth and store them in the leather case.
The genuine leather case may stretch or shrink slightly. Contact with water or perspiration may cause discoloration or staining.
In rare cases, lacquer may cause skin irritation. If any irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult a physician.
Keep out of reach of infants and young children.
