The Small Scissors with Lacquered Handles (Limited Color: Ginshu) were originally offered as part of our 2026 Lucky Bag. Due to their popularity and the many requests we received, we are pleased to announce that they will now be available as a single item in limited quantities.
The Small Scissors are finished in a lustrous yet elegant vermilion color, Ginshu, complemented by a natural, undyed leather case and tassel.
This Ginshu is the same limited-edition color used for the Small Scissors included in the Lucky Bag 2025.
As lacquer is a natural material, subtle variations in tone may occur depending on seasons and environmental conditions during the lacquering process.
We hope you will enjoy the unique character and expression that each piece develops.
The tassel is the same one used on our standard Small Scissors Shunuri.

These beautiful small scissors are perfect for detailed cutting work such as quilting or embroidery.
The blades are created by Hasegawa Cutlery, a manufacturer of edged tools established in 1933 and located in Seki, Japan's foremost cutlery-making town. Blades are forged and hand-fitted by master craftsmen for a sharp edge and a smooth, hitch-free cutting experience.
Smooth-fitting and easy to use, the warm lacquer handles are as functional as they are beautiful.

Since the blade are delicately finished in with tapered tip, it is easy to use for detailed work of sewing and handicraft.
The limited-edition Ginshu is presented alongside our standard Shunuri and Tamenuri finishes, allowing you to appreciate the subtle differences in tone and character when viewed together.

A mellow red created by adding a touch of white to vermilion. It has the lowest saturation of the three, offering a bright yet balanced hue that is subtler than classic Shunuri finish. This color has a quiet, refined presence that blends seamlessly with other handcrafting tools.
Shunuri
A high-clarity, eye-catching vermilion with stunning color payoff. As the most vibrant of the three signature colors, it has long been cherished in Japan for auspicious occasions and gift-giving. This is our classic vermilion, evoking a sense of celebration and vitality.
Tamenuri
A deep lacquer finish that appears almost black at first glance, revealing a glimpse of reddish-brown warmth in the light. Its expression changes depending on the angle and brightness.
Quiet, subdued, and richly nuanced, this finish is defined by its understated elegance.
▼Edge sharpening in two-steps called "Koba-biki"
The blades are sharpened by adding a small edge by grinding the blade at two different angles, which ensures long-lasting sharpness and strength.
▼Tip Shaving
Shaving the tip increases the accuracy of blade engagement.
Please note in advance that the blade tips are flat.
