Story

Crafted in Seki, Gifu—one of Japan’s premier cutlery cities—these small scissors are finished in sakura lacquer accented with gold maki-e.

A silk tassel threaded with shimmering gold adds a refined sparkle.

The fine, delicate blades make these scissors ideal for precise work in sewing, crafting, and other detailed creative projects.

＜About the color of Lacquered Handles＞

The color of lacquered handles is duller and darker than it should be when the lacquer has been applied for only a short period of time. That's because the lacquer has a distinctive yellowish tone at first.

As time passes, environmental conditions such as ultraviolet rays, temperature, and humidity change the color of the lacquer to a brighter tone and becomes more colorful. 

The time it takes for the color tone become brighter depends on the environment.

The blades are sharpened by adding a small edge by grinding the blade at two different angles, which ensures long-lasting sharpness and strength.

Lacquer factory founded in 1970 in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture. They mainly make lacquer items and Buddhist altars for temples and households. In recent years, they have been producing various lacquered works other than traditional Buddhist altars.

A cutlery manufacturer established in 1933 in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture, one of Japan's leading cutlery towns. The reliable quality was born from the outstanding technology and abundant knowledge cultivated through history. Their products have pleasant sharpness that cannot be found anywhere else.

Handling Precautions 

• The blade tips are sharp, so please handle with care.
• Forcing the blades to cut hard or thick object will result in losing blade engagement and damage to the blades.
• Dropping or strong impact may cause damage.
• Do not store scissors in direct sunlight or in high temperatures and humidity to prevent rusting of the scissors and discoloration of the lacquer.
• Lacquer coatings and gold maki-e lines are very delicate. Do not use hard cloths or abrasives for cleaning as they scratch the surface.
• After use, wipe with the cleaner cloth provided and store in the sheath.
• The sheath is made of genuine leather and therefore may stretch or shrink a little. Also wetting with water or sweat may cause color fading or stains.
• There may be a rare case of lacquer rash depending on user's physical constitution. If you experience any abnormality, discontinue use and consult a physician.
• Keep out of reach of infants.
