Regarding the Lacquer’s Tone Upon Delivery
When you first receive your item, you may notice that the lacquer appears slightly more yellowish than in the images shown on our website. This is related to this year’s unusually low rainfall and extremely dry conditions.
Lacquer naturally develops a brighter and clearer color in response to humidity and light. However, due to this winter’s unusually dry conditions, the color is developing more slowly than usual.
Bringing Your “Sakura Pink” to Life in Your Home
Once your item arrives, following these steps will help the lacquer slowly “awaken” and gradually develop toward its signature Sakura Pink.
-
- Unbox Your Item: Please remove it from the packaging to allow it to breathe fresh air.
- Place in a Bright Room: Keep the item in a well-lit indoor space, away from direct sunlight. Exposure to natural light, including the gentle UV present in daylight, helps the lacquer gradually develop its color.
- Let the Spring Air Assist: As humidity rises with the arrival of spring, the lacquer’s natural “breathing” process becomes smoother, allowing the color gradually to brighten.
- Special Care for Dry Climates (The Bathroom Method): If you live in a particularly dry region, try placing the item near a bathroom after a shower—where gentle humidity lingers—overnight. Please ensure it does not come into direct contact with water. This gentle moisture helps the lacquer resume its natural breathing process and encourages the color to develop.
- Unbox Your Item: Please remove it from the packaging to allow it to breathe fresh air.

Please note that these gradual color changes are a natural characteristic of authentic urushi lacquer and should not be considered a defect.
The climate and sunlight in your region may influence the speed of these changes.
We hope you will enjoy watching your own “Sakura Pink” develop over time.
Orders will be shipped in the order they were received, as soon as each order is ready.
You will receive a shipping confirmation email once your order has shipped.
We hope you will enjoy the anticipation just a little while longer until your order arrives.
