Story

Cohana celebrates 8th anniversary in October 2024 with the Limited Edition Product.
A special sewing set for the 8th anniversary, created as a token of our appreciation!

This is Daruma-inspired sewing set, featuring the Daruma, a lucky charm in Japan.

A special made small Daruma can, 6.5 cm diameter x 4.5 cm high,
holds 6 small sewing tools, including Seki Mini Scissors with a Daruma charm, an Awaji Kawara Magnetic Needle Rest in Daruma shape and a Daruma glass top sewing pin.

There is a saying in Japan ”七転八起: Nana korobi Ya oki” means to fall seven times then stand up eight times. This phrase expresses the spirit of never give up. In old Japan, Daruma dolls were familiar to people as roly-poly toys, which delivered this saying.

In Japanese tradition, the red Daruma Dolls are believed to ward off evil spirits, and are displayed in the hope of family safety, good luck, and protection against illness.

① Daruma can
A special made small Daruma can, 6.5 cm diameter x 4.5 cm high. Cohana's original Daruma face is printed on a matte-textured can.

② Awaji Kawara Magnetic Needle Rest Daruma
This needle rest is made in Awaji Island, Hyogo Prefecture, the one of the famous production region of Kawara (roof tiles).
The texture of the Kawara tile produced by high-quality soil enhances the Daruma-shaped needle rest. The built-in magnet catches the needle perfectly.
⑦ Sewing Needle 1pc
Suitable for buttoning and sewing. Made in Hiroshima, famous for needle production.

③ Seki Mini Scissors Daruma with a Daruma embroidery charm 1pc
These Seki Mini Scissors are created by a manufacturer of edged tools established in 1933,located in Seki, Japan's foremost cutlery-making town. Simply pinch lightly to cut with ease.
Adorned with a little Daruma charm. The cuteness makes you smile every time you use it.

④ Daruma Sewing Pin 1pc
Daruma Sewing Pins are made at a glass studio in Osaka that produces colored glass rods for crafts.
Artisans create the Daruma shape one by one with a burner and weld it onto a needle. Pins are made in Hiroshima, famous for needle production.

Due to the handmade nature, each Daruma Sewing Pin differs slightly in shape, and they are all adorable.

⑤ Mini Thread (2 pcs: Red and White)
The thread of the small spool is made by a long-established thread manufacturer in Kyoto and is suitable for buttoning and other uses.
⑥ ITO button (2 pcs: Red)
ITO means thread in Japanese. ITO Buttons are made by interweaving a single thread with a unique technology. Eco-friendly recycled polyester thread Eco-Rapos is used for these eco-friendly buttons.
